Mastercard expansion leads to 175 jobs created
Global payments company Mastercard is creating 175 jobs with the expansion of its operations at its Leopardstown headquarters in Co Dublin.
Many of the new jobs will be in research and development as the company seeks new ways for customer payments to be processed.
Mastercard is a global tech company that process payments for consumers, financial institutions, corporations and governments.
As society moves in a cashless direction, the company is developing innovative software to facilitate such transactions.
Much of the research is taking place in Leopardstown, which is also the site for the company’s global research and development wing, Mastercard Labs.
The jobs announced by the company today include openings for software engineers, product designers, cloud infrastructure specialists and information security experts.
The company has already developed purchase and payment options based on robotic voices, or chat bots, which take orders over the web.
It has also explored augmented reality shopping, where customers can, for example, place virtual reality objects in their homes using tablet computers to decide if they want to buy.
Mastercard already employs 380 staff in Ireland and recruitment for the new positions begins immediately. (Source RTE News)
