Reporting to senior Accountants, most Assistant Accountants are either part qualified in ACA, ACCA, CIMA or Accounts Technicians. At the latter stages of their Accountancy studies, many employers hire those who have the technical capabilities but are not yet in a position to sign off on annual accounts. Often such recruits are viewed as the ideal long term replacement to the existing Accountant who will be fully versed in the companies style.
